Another new release in the field of Black Metal. Although with this novelty it is not quite, as it contains material from at least two years ago. We are talking about the demo "Espiritum" and the Aarseth EP from the USA. The release premiered yesterday on Under the Sign of Garazel Productions, with both materials appearing on CD for the first time. Here we have a total of five tracks with raw, dense black metal with a pinch of keyboards for boositng the atmosphere. The whole thing is mainly in the style of early Darkthrone, Thorns and Gorgoroth albums, and even to some extent may correspond to Warmoon Lord's debut, just because of the keyboards, but the main skeleton of the compositions is truly Norwegian. I think UtSoG had a good idea to release this on CD, because there is a lot of potential here, I would even gladly put an Aarseth vinyl on the shelf as well, if one were to be released. It really is a piece of solid art in the subject matter. Of course, you can forget about the good production here, but that's not the point here. Even the slight reverberation and the impression that the music is coming to the listener from inside some sort of grotto doesn't get in the way. All in all, it lends an interesting atmosphere. I would also like to draw attention to the form of the album release itself - there is much to boast about. It reminds me of Werewolf Records from Finland, which I think is quite a compliment. To all black metal maniacs out there, I recommend it strongly! I'll be playing Aarseth more than once for sure, because it's simply a good stuff. I'm looking forward to what this project will offer with a full-length album.
