Morte Incandescente "...Relembrando um Túmulo Esquecido" CD

This is pretty kickass actually. I am weary of Black Metal promos with unpronounceable band names and toungue-twisting, multiword Latin titles (even though this one is Portuguese.) But I am forced to admit this is a really cool album. Morte Incandescente are very into first wave BM, and there is a heavy streak of Celtic Frost in their songwriting, only with a second-wave tremolo playing style that bashes and wrings out these atonal, painful riffs with an enjoyably raw tone and a lot of back-to-basics attitude. Vocals are a very CF Tom Warrior style, with an echoey shout being the predominant style, sometimes segueing into arcane chanting or muttering. The vocals are not always quite on time with the music, and sometimes it sounds almost like the guy is so busy with his insane ranting he forgot what song he was playing. This lends the music a delightful deranged quality that reminds me of Beherit more than a little bit. The recording is raw but loud, with a very warm, fat guitar sound that's overdriven to the point where it interferes with itself and turns into this wall of black muck when they speed up and start really going for it. Arcane, evil, insane and sloppy – this is everything there is to love about Black Metal. A work of malign genius.
