All your black metal staples are here - cold, barren toned guitars quickly picking chords and plucking out dissonant arpeggios with lots of blast beats and evil rasps. On "Phase 6" you get short, catchy guitar lines repeated to a point of redundancy rather that creating a hypnotic loop. There's glimpses of something more, such as the the slow intro in " Apophenia", a passage of chord running, acoustics and spoken word in "The Secret of the Universe", and a few strangely melodic arpeggios, but unfortunately everything gets beaten for far to long on "Phase 6". That being said, there's lots of potential which will hopefully come to fruition on Apognosis' next release.
