Azketem "Inzernznytazure" CD

There is a certain fascination I have for one man black metal acts. One person realising their vision of musical concepts holds immense potential and is a sign of great technical versatility. I always respect that! Needless to say besides the technical and personal dedication that is shown, the music itself is the most important and oh damn, Azketem truly excels there!
First of all Inzernznytazure is an amazingly mixed and produced demo. In fact it could very well be seen as a full length release production-wise. You clearly hear all instruments and the vocals; no part is compromising another. The guitars are varied and the drums are played at a high pace, packing a lot of punch. While most of the time both the guitars and drums are extremely aggressive and fast, sometimes they slow down for well implemented breaks of the brutal tempo. During these parts the keyboard takes a more noticeable role, opening up the way for slight changes in atmosphere or to further accentuate the vocals. The keyboard passages on Inzernznytazure promote a decidedly sinister, gloomy tone in a simplistic way without taking too much of a predominant role.
Now to the aforementioned vocals! Let me tell you that they are truly impressive. The powerful voice of Azken constantly keeps it's presence besides the brutal drums and guitars. The growls are full-bodied and while sparsely found, clean singing parts show capable vocal skills as well, always striking the right note. All in all Azken's voice reminds me of early Abbath ("Call of the Wintermoon") with a slightly more sinister tone.
All in all this record is just on point! Great vocals, drums and guitars accompanied by intense atmosphere and very competent composing and mixing.
A perfect score thoroughly deserved!
