Re-release of first demo of Bekëth Nexëhmü. Improvised together one evil night in mars. Sessions drums re-recorded 2015 by N.B. 

Only nine hand-numbered copies of this cassette, the debut recording for Bekëth Nexëhmü, were issued and one of the proud owners uploaded the music to Youtube where I found it. As the cassette sleeve cover proudly proclaims, the recording was improvised during a rehearsal session while the band members were drunk which may explain the slow pace and the large sections of the music where everyone seems to be on autopilot just banging on drums and blaring away on guitar.
The actual recording is not too bad for music created and sustained for nearly 40 minutes without pause the whole time while the musicians were in an alcoholic funk. The guys must have been drunk enough that any inhibitions they might have had about improvising music were relaxed but that could have been about the extent of their inebriation; if they'd been any more drunk, the music would have been less structured than it already is. Definite tremolo riffs and melodies are present and everyone is more or less keeping up with each other. Over time though, the music gets slower and more repetitive, and the possibility of it collapsing before the finishing line grows.
The one remarkable element in the music is the vocals which sound exactly like someone with an excruciating hangover leaning over the Big White Phone To God and spewing his pain and half his guts into it. Apart from this, the only other saving grace is the all-ambient track at the very end: this is a mysterious and sinister hovering alien-drone presence.
If the intention was to free up their creative juices in a situation with no rules, save for cranking out whatever was in their heads, then the evidence on offer hints that the band's creativity might have been as much smothered by the demon drink as it was freed. There is far too much repetition and not enough inspiration. The band could have edited parts of the recording for length without compromising its raw quality and intent.
