Track 6 Thorns cover!!
Released in 2007 by Diachell Musik titled "Mental Electricity MMVII" and limited to 500 hand-numbered copies in slipcase with new artwork. This version contains 3 bonustracks:
The Polish nightmare factory; Hesperus Dimension did not start its sickly life today with black metal misanthropy that almost borders on avant-garde through electronic noises. Yet they surprised the medium that eagerly shakes flasks hungry for this kind of music with little material, compared to their 2000 formation, they first appeared in 2005 with the single Mental Electricity (the subject of our current review is this disc reissued and supplemented with three bonus songs – again limited and demanding, mine is the 351st copy – theoretically out of 500…) and with another review even more recent single, The Cyclothymic Panopticon, released this year. In the appearance of the band, they reused the achievements of today's modern stencil and pop art with a strong Frank Miller-like Sin City effect for me. The founder of the band is the same guy who made Northland-dot alone back then, my favorite is their only big album; Czernoboh with its depressive and farcical black-dark caves.
So, Mental Electricity MMVII, as I already wrote, is a single and a remix of Mental Electricity with three extra songs, and if you look a little further down the members, you can clearly see the stuff of The Kovenant – Animatronic, musically it can be classified there, although Hesperus Dimension is a much more abstract, experimental and difficult to understand production. Names like Attila Csihar’s Aborym, Blacklodge and Diabolos Rising may also come to mind as influences.
Most of the songs are based on samplers, but the power of the guitars doesn't take much of the tension away, and you can feel the live instruments mixing with the barren army of industrial monsters, whispers and fear mixing with this mass of noise that is nothing but nightmare and croaking, for more than 20 minutes. Just enough time for it not to become boring, to reveal new and new details from its distorted face, and maybe that's why the Polish guys are so afraid of the concept of an LP, since all this would make their overturned concept even more difficult and perhaps meaningless in 40-50 minutes. The appearance of childish sounds, like laughter, laughter and a music box, further slices through the inexhaustible horrors of the factory, for a non-capitalist consumer society, the horror is infinite, but as matter it is limited...
The release and the sound are both maximally correct, the reception, however, is highly human-testing and mood-dependent. Since I can say that I really came of age on the material of the Swedish Mental Destruction and In Slaughter Natives, besides the metal line, the interpretation and acceptance were not a particular problem for me. However, this does not mean that everyone would be like this, if the names above say something, or you are just curious about such hybrid torsos, then give it a try, but it would be good to hurry, last year's release is also highly limited, otherwise the disease is still a curiosity and subcultural group addiction.
