Daemonlord ‎"Hellfire Centuries" CD

Daemonlord has been quite productive. Since its birth in 2000, it has brought forth twelve releases. Three of them are full-length CDs, of which 'Hellfire Centuries' is the third. I am not really familiar with their earlier work, although I did review one of their split vinyl singles. It left a relatively good impression, but to listen to this extreme black metal shit from Spain for a little under 50 minutes is a whole different ballgame. Lots of it is as fast and furious as Hell itself. The music conjures up a pretty sick atmosphere, partly due to the nauseating vocals. According to the bio: "Every single song deals with one only thing: war!" (sic!) This should be quite appealing to me, being an armchair general and somewhat of a war history freak. The subject matter of their songs may be of interest to me, their music certainly is not. If this is "by far the best thing the band has ever recorded" I feel no urge to listen to their other stuff. The songs severely lack tension, sometimes we hear interesting ideas, but on the whole it is just a mediocre happening.
