The Norwegian Savarak, who is also active with the Schwarzheimers von Raumer, started his own project called Andakt in 2021. He currently has an EP and an album released. The album “Ritual of Angzhar” was initially released independently and was officially released by Cold Northern Breeze Records in early February. Musically, the album has typical Scandinavian BM influences as well as very different influences outside of BM, which makes the album a very interesting overall work. “Ritual of Angzhar” includes 8 pieces and the playing time is just over half an hour. Cold Northern Breeze Records has once again given the release a strong overall presentation.I became aware of the Norwegian last year after the digital release of the album via YouTube and have always listened to the album. When Cold Northern Breeze Records officially released the album, I was very happy, especially since I can now hold the silver disc in my hand. The detailed artwork rounds off the overall work for me. Thanks go to Axel from Cold Northern Breeze Records for providing me with the CD version. But now let's talk about "Ritual of Angzhar", which focuses on rough, unpolished and atmospheric BM. The dynamics and the intense atmosphere ensure a positive “aha” experience right from the start. The songs are easy to listen to due to their simple song structure and are still more than just typical cold and disharmonious Norwegian BM. The atmosphere that the Nordmann creates here is impressive. Ritual and occult sounds give you goosebumps. My 2 personal favorites are the second song “Mørkets Kosmos” and the title song “Ritual of Angzhar” because both songs particularly stuck in my ear, but that doesn't mean that the remaining songs are worse. Andakt is something to keep in mind because “Ritual of Angzhar” sets the bar quite high. Conclusion: Andakt is a Norwegian band that, in addition to typical Norwegian BM, also has an intense and dark atmosphere. “Ritual of Angzhar” is very strong in terms of play and makes you want more releases.
