Emglev "Dor An Tenvalijenn" Cassette

It is no secret that Ancient Meadow is the label when it comes to unearthing old dungeon synth gems from the 90s. It’s just our schtick, and this time, we have gone above and beyond to unearth an extremely rare and obscure piece of dark dungeon music from the rolling hills of Brittany, France. This Bretonic devotional is rife with nods to the artist’s homeland, including titles and text in Breton, translated liner notes in the rare language, the Menez Arrez on the cover, and other iconic Bretonic landmarks in the insert. This compilation features both demos from the 90s: an unreleased 1994 demo and the more well-documented “Noz-veil” demo from 1996. Audio repeats on both sides.

This tape was originally released in 2022 on Ancient Meadow Records (USA) and limited to 100 copies.
Very obscure but celebrated early dungeon synth from the earliest days of the genre by an even more obscure Breton who dutifully recovered, remastered, and provided the versions of the audio you will hear on this release. Features both the "Noz-veil" demo and the unreleased 1994 demo.

Something old, something ancient. When I was younger I would wilfully lose myself somewhere in the liminal space between consciousness and sleep. I would lay down on my bed in front of my window and leave this place, alone with only the soft embers of a summer’s evening light to warm my face. Now that I’m older, it’s more difficult to cross the line which separates self awareness and the infinity of the cosmos, but every so often I’m blessed again with the ability to travel.
Emglev is a dark ambient musician, active between 1994-1997 in Brittany, France. It’s fairly common to find Jordan of Ancient Meadow Records behind such a re-release and we can thank him here for unearthing an obscure treasure. This release is depressive, mournful and always beautiful. The cassette is a compilation of two demos.
