Post black metal, with shoe-gaze overtones and martial drums tinged with dark-folk and ambient elements
Vinda"(Eng:"Coming") starts with an epic journey that marks the beginning of a new Era, with five atmospheric long songs full of orchestration, tribal drums and choirs in Velmaer dialect (a fictional language) with Portuguese narration. A story about the battle of Men and Hastuvv, the destroyed city Uldene, the three moons, their Gods' acts and the arrival of the wise Velmaer.
"Vinda" by the band Forgotten Winter is a masterwork of epic atmospheric black metal that weaves an immersive musical cloth with its unconventional instrumentation and imaginative storytelling. Comprising the visionary duo of Eremita and Trovador, Forgotten Winter's artistry is in a league of its own, pushing the boundaries of the genre to create a sound that's both dreamy, beautiful and ferociously intense.
At the heart of "Vinda" are the ethereal sounds of flutes, french horns, harps, choirs, trumpets, and tribal percussion, which combine to evoke a sense of otherworldly grandeur. The album draws listeners into a mystical wonder, where each section and melody is a gateway to a fantastical universe of their making.
The lyrics on "Vinda" transport the audience to a world conceived by Forgotten Winter, where gods reside on the moons, and an unending conflict rages between humans and the enigmatic Hastuvv. This narrative thread adds a deeply immersive layer to the album, making it an epic sail through an entirely new mythology.
One of the most unique elements of "Vinda" is the use of the band's invented language, Velmaer. The lyrics are partially sung in this linguistic creation, adding an enigmatic, almost ritualistic quality to the music. The language becomes an integral part of the storytelling, making each song a cryptic incantation that unveils the band's mythos.
Forgotten Winter's ability to blend orchestral and folk instruments with their own language and a compelling narrative creates an experience that is not only captivating but intellectually stimulating. It's an album that invites you to explore the unknown, to step beyond the boundaries of conventional music, and immerse yourself in a world where gods, moons, and epic battles come to life through sound.
