80 Minutes playing time full of satanic darkness, hate and depression. The 12 Rites in Adoration of the Void and Darkness that are Present in the Debut Album Dark Procession from the Abyss. Hear the Call from the Abyss for the Arrival of the Winter of the Current Aeon and the Arrival of the Mahapralaya!!!
The Debut Album of Gloomy Misanthropy from Brasil comes with ugly Black Metal together with gloomy, occult Dark Ambient in the vein of old LLN, Abruptum, Leviathan, Winds of the Black Mountains. The also included Demo comes with more Depressive Black Metal in the vein of Xasthur and Wigrid. 80 Minutes playing time full of satanic darkness, hate and depression
Are you ready for 80 minutes of bleak and misanthropic black metal? Even in case you are a die-hard fan of the genre you might have never heard of Gloomy Misanthropy, a one man project from Brazil. Driven by a guy acting under the pseudonym Wandering Moribund “Dark Procession from the Abyss” is listed as the full length debut here at MA. In fact German underground masters Astral Nightmare Productions have re-released the EP going by the same name and added the songs of the demo. As always this is done as nice CD edition, and as most of the time when it comes to this label's work this is another gem out of the darkest pits of hell and something that should be of interest for any serious collector. At first I was a bit skeptical as the songs seemed a bit all over the place. The album consists of some very long tracks as well as shorter ones and various interludes and atmospheric pieces. However, once you are in the flow and get a feeling how the music ebbs and flows throughout the whole playing time you might start to really rate the experience. Don’t get me wrong though, this is not some kind of experimental or overly sophisticated stuff but a chaotic, dissonant piece of music in the first place, with tight, rhythmic drumming, robust guitar hooks and hellish vocal deliveries. Very traditional at its core, but with the distinctive voice of the artist. The songs shift from far more demented, speed driven sections to motifs that practically move at glacial pace, and this helps to maintain the listener’s attention throughout and illustrate the variety of sounds and moods Wandering Moribund is able to produce. Tracks like the monolithic “Transcendence by Self-Destruction” make great use of atmospheric elements to create a menacing aura immediately, imbuing this track with an otherworldly and hypnotic feel so that it is hard to not get immersed while going through the different stages of each section. While the guitars draw the main attention here the drums sound surprisingly good - they are present, yet not overtly sharp in the way that raw black metal snares and cymbals often are.The sparse compositions and ethereal ambient tones do a great job of grabbing the listener and making the whole output fly by despite its epic length. Of course there are passages and tracks that are better than others as it should be expected when such a huge amount of music is packed on one disc, but the overall quality is pretty consistent. there are plenty of great hooks peppered throughout the album, with some experimental, almost psychedelic elements making their way in as well, making up for an interesting mix. “Dark Procession from the Abyss” is a really great listen and a fantastic addition to the collection and as far as my personal opinion is considered more enthralling than the sum of its parts respectively the single songs.
