Behind the name Prymityw lies a certain Parasitus, who serves as the helm, sailor, and vessel of this project. This guy has been active in the scene for over ten years, having recorded a demo and two EPs, which he's reissuing on the silver disc Under the Sign of Garazel. I'd heard the name before, but it didn't particularly stick in my mind. Besides, I think that after listening to these two recording sessions several times, this state of affairs won't change much. The reason for this turn of events is very simple. Prymityw, as the name suggests, is rather primitive black metal, which doesn't really stand out in any way. You won't find anything here that hasn't been played before. Of course, if you enjoy old-school, raw black metal with a slight punk undertone, this release might interest you, as that's the kind of music Parasitus dabbles in. These two EPs, each nearly forty minutes long, are all you need to be happy. Provided you're not particularly demanding. In terms of the formula itself, there's nothing to complain about. The songs here are mostly mid-tempo, and slightly faster, compositions based on a few hooks reminiscent of the early '90s and the rawness emerging in Scandinavian regions at that time. There are no keyboards, female chants, or hypnotic dissonances. The only breaks where we can clear our lungs of the ubiquitous sulfur are acoustic interludes (including the intro/outro) with a forest-folk feel. The rest is the aforementioned classics. It sounds decent (read: garage-like), and overall, it's not even boring, but it's not particularly captivating either. The vocals aren't particularly impressive either, being a solid, black metal rasp, as you might imagine, in our native language. Looking at this release objectively, I believe it's aimed at a very narrow audience, one who lives and breathes this brand of black metal and inhales everything it releases. I won't say I personally don't appreciate simplicity; quite the opposite. However, there are definitely more releases on the market today that deserve more attention, and unfortunately, there are only twenty-four hours in a day. So if you're interested, check them out, because some of you will likely find this material valuable. In my opinion, this compilation is solid. That's all, and that's all.
