Grafvolluth are a mysterious group of individuals who spareingly release some of the most ferocious and truely spirited Black Metal in the United States. The sound is raw, but everything can be heard well enough. the guitars sound like buzz saws, the drums have a garbage can like quality and the vocals sound like razor blades. All this being said, Grafvolluth still manage to make quite an impressive album. Structurally speaking, the songs seem simplistic to an excessive level, but listening to it deeper, you can hear them execute some extremely impressive musicianship that they almost seem to bury underneith excessive amounts of distortion and screams. Their full lengths seem to be spread almost a decade apart, and it seems as though they couldn't care less about promoting themselves by doing a multitude of interviews, splits, and/or shows. Grafvolluth seems to raise their heads on their own time. This is quite a breath of fresh air in an otherwise delapidated style of music. Being that they are from the U.S. (NYC) makes them even more rare.
