The first material was a split, For Grey Winter Days, released by Arcana Noctis Label in a select company with Twilight Is Mine (Russia), Cosmic Transmigration (Finland) and Skaur (Norway). It was a very good beginning, the three songs that are on this material have a strange aura and minimalist structure. After this release came the first CD released also at the beginning of 2006 under the specters of the snow. Over The Frozen Battlegrounds was released by Australian label Smell The Stench and had a massive impact in the underground black metal scene world-wide due to great distribution and trades. Now the songs had a more funeral/occult sick dimension due the fact that were also used some additional atmospheric touches with some keyboards and acoustic guitars. Then Ukrainian label De Profundis wanted to release a split with [band]Ordinul Negru{/band], so Fulmineos contributed with some material from the first CD period but only unreleased songs gathered under the Archaic Dreams Of Frost and proposed Mourning Winter as a partner, who re-united after a long silence taking two songs from their debut Draco material and two brand new songs under the banner Pagan Ancestry to complete the scenery. Also in the autumn of 2006 the long-awaited split of Ordinul Negru with Man Among Stars came out as the second official CD of Banatian darkness. The songs of this material evoke the early period from the nineties black metal, raw, painful and true. Ordinul Negru presents four brand new songs while Man Among Stars their second output Shining. For fans of: Argus Megere, Barshasketh, Taake, Gorgoroth, 1349.
Probably one of the better known Romanian black metal acts are Ordinul Negru. Having been formed in 2004 the main guy behind this project (Fulmineos) is also active in several other acts like e.g. Argus Megere or Katharos XIII. Compared to some of those outfits Ordinul Negru is pretty much straight-forward stuff in the tradition of the glorious nineties. With eight full lengths under their belt they have been quite busy over the years and in 2020 they are back with a short but sweet EP titled “Nebuisa”. Consisting of four tracks we get 27 minutes of music, so in the end there is enough meat to pick from the bones. This EP seems like the natural predecessor to their latest full length “Faustian Nights” from 2018, adding some more weapons to the arsenal. Classic tremolo runs and melody rub shoulders with inventive structures and creative songwriting. Psychedelic and atmospheric avenues are frequently explored, and each track is constructed with thought, imagination, and skill. Ordinul Negru are not afraid to think outside of the box and implement some unorthodox elements, while always staying true to their blackened roots, resulting in avant-garde stylings and flourishes of darkly colorful ideas. The band provides a sinister and classic vibe and mood, thanks to the atmospheric guitar riffs and the howling vocals. The feel inside is rather hostile and misanthropic, which is well compensated by the melancholy which is always subtly present over the whole playing time. Tempo variations are thrown in for good measure, and you can expect anything varying from blasting furies, to groovier parts, to some slower patterns. The rhythmic content is well structured and properly performed, and while overall there is a certain monotony inherent in this album, the songs fly by and are real fun. Take for example the title track, a bleak yet epic gem of unholy black metal art. The production has enough grit without coming across being too muddy, and the great looking artwork in black, white, grey and yellow adds to the atmosphere so I am glad that Loud Rage Music has just released “Nebuisa” as digipak, making it a nice addition to the collection.
