I have not seen an album title, recently, as accurate as this one. We are all aware of DIABOLICAL FULLMOON’s quality, I dare say, so we all know what to expect from these crazy Poles. This is uncompromising Black Metal, harsh and melodic, reminiscent of Old Days and Old Melodies. The Polish scene of the ’90s is packed with innovative quality, and it had one thing black metal eventually came to lose, in a way: its haunting facet. Fast and overly violent black metal is one I can hardly relate to. Black metal that is capable of crafting dark and disturbing melodies – that is my type of black metal. Diabolical Fullmoon has a majestic sound, filled with elegance and class, where the usage of keyboards takes their sound to a different level, differentiating them from most bands in the scene right now. It seems, again, simple; but it is not. The slow to mid-paced sound, the orchestrations that exalt power and tradition. Yes, tradition is a good adjective to describe Diabolical Fullmoon, a band that has been following The Temple of Fullmoon’s steps since day one, but doing it with class, with such class, that we cannot consider them a copy of A or B.
Resurrection of The Ancient Faith (Unholy Reborn Polish Black Metal Art shows a band at the top of their form. It shows a band working with class and quality; a band that has a long way ahead of them. This is an almost medieval, pure folk sound, each and every musical construction where pieces fit perfectly, and where instrumental interludes are a catalyzer for what is yet to come! I love black metal, but I worship what was done in the ’90s – call me old and orthodox, thank you – and whenever I come across a band that is able to emulate that sound, it hits hard. Diabolical Fullmoon has done it again, and Signal Rex is well aware of such… may this open a door for the band to perform at Invicta Reqviem Mass this year. The music… the vocals, we need to mention the vocals. Never exaggerate, of course; au point they be, and they fit like a glove. The drums and the guitars all are well-balanced and in perfect symbiosis, and in terms of production… perfect. Old atmosphere and old sounds. This is Diabolical Fullmoon, and I risk say the black metal scene was in dire need of musicians that were able to recapture that essence and that sound, work with such delicate melodies and craft beautiful sounds. Dark and eerie sounds, similar to what was done in the beginning; with drops of romanticism and melancholy. Resurrection of The Ancient Faith is a strong contender for my Top 10 of 2023.
