The band exists since 2004 and has released one EP, one split and finally their debut was published in march this year. The taken time to create and record the album was well invested, as the record does not really seem to have any flaws on the first sight. The production is really powerful and so it will blow the dust off your speakers, but it should be praised in all categories. There is enough space for every instrument to develop which contributes to durability.The production isn’t the only thing that is qualitative here, the songs are including various melodies, structures and other little surprises. The riffs are held in a classic black metal manner and are therefore quite fast and cold. The lyrics are mostly understandable but growled and therefore quite harsh. The record is streaked with changes in melody and tempo but there are stylistic changes as well. The first time you will be confronted with those changes is right in the first track, when they change the tempo and are playing somewhat thrashy. You could even hear a bit of rock’n'roll.From time to time there are spoken passages interlaced into the songs which was done with much more professionality than most of the other bands would do. This is reasoned, because this passages are merging with the song and so they don’t just sound like if they were added on last minute. The record doesn’t get boring and so you can hear it over and over again, as you will still find new details in sound. The only real flaw would be the compactness of the sound, as you can’t breathe through any minute and because of this you could get headache.Irrlycht released an incredibly intense record with Schatten des Gewitters. The songs are of high quality and can easily compete with songs of Helrunar and Eis which also applies to the general sound. The record is full of variation and therefore maintains a long time in your player. The only flaw is, as mentioned, the compactedness of composition but that isn’t really fatal.
