Brazil is known for high-quality, relentless extreme metal, and Sign of Doom is a prime example. Simply put, Grave Desecrator fucking slays!

Any insulters of Jesus Christ must be compared to Sarcofago, which is of course a high compliment, and Grave Desecrator carry on the Brazilian tradition of aggressive, blasphemous metal. Their style carries on that legacy, also akin to early Holocausto and Mutilator, though the music is considerably less thrashy - it doesn't have those jarring bursts of fury that stop and start. Rather, the band keeps up a furious pace that roars through songs like Blasphemy, as well as having a deeper-pitched guitar and vocal sound like them. The album flows as well as the second or third Bathory albums, a relentless onslaught that rips at impressive speed until it breaks into killer riffs that channel the finest of the first and second waves.

What makes this album great is that it doesn't only carry the intensity of war metal, at its fastest it doesn't become a blur, it stays at the pace that a mortal in a horror film might frantically run away from a looming spectre before being consumed as the fury breaks and lets an ominous riff haunt the atmosphere of the song. At the same time, it's intense enough that it could still crush the ears of fans of Proclamation, Sacrocurse, and Blood Chalice. It's that perfect mix of high power bestial metal and oldschool South American stuff where the essence of black devotion isn't lost in any degree of refinement. The lyrics also brutally butcher the English language, and I would expect nothing less from a Brazilian black/death metal band.

If you weren't convinced to check it out, "if you are a false don't entry!"
