Neoheresy "Noc Ktora Dniem Sie Stala" CD

What is noticeable pretty instantly with Noc która dniem się stała is its very appealing combination of folk and symphonic aspects. Why is this appealing? Well, the synthesised drones and implementation of medieval sonorities result in a very creative and thought-provoking sound that puts forward both an effective atmosphere as well as a nice ornamentation to the harsh black metal riffing and vocals. The addition of these elements to the music is vital, and it's evident that the band revolves around these ideas as there is a pretty prominent mix of the ambience with the riffs, with neither overpowering the other. This works very well, although at times the experimentation with twists to the atmosphere does feel overblown.
One thing that I think Neoheresy nails on this album is the vocals, with exceptional clean vocalisation as well as harsher black metal screams that are original and match with the softer touch of the music well. Sometimes, the vocals include primal chants that add to the folk influences. But, where this record really shines is in its dramatic instrumental sections in which amazing melodies are put forward with both the ambient effects as well as a simultaneous clean and distorted guitars, evoking atmosphere that is truly triumphant and memorable. While this is present across the entire record, it's strongest in tracks like the title track and Na kolanach, wherein the tremolo picking works so well with the graceful plucking of medieval scales and an orchestral but still primitive sound.
While the music is extremely layered with many vocal effects as well as ambient instrumentation, the mix is still impressive with a very processed and slick guitar tone and less of a concentration of distortion, with more focus on the sonorities of the record in order to create an effect of extremity in a different way; featuring natural elements that seriously contribute to the ideas in the music.
