Pöllömaagi "Pöllötuuli, Sitten Yö" CD

Descripción Debut full-length from this killer project by the same artist behind excellent acts as Kulttimaa, Sauvan Sankari, Lugwimp or vocalist in Faustian Pact.
The project's second release, following up to the "Maailmansilmätalismaanit" demo, released in 2021, sees an excellent progression in the band's sound.
Although approximating to the type of fantasy-immersed, rustic Black Metal of the last Sauvan Sankari full-length, Pöllömaagi takes a more experimental twist, showing various different facets, recording techniques, elements and with more prevalence of Folk, being that it comprises close to half of the album, including the rustic and rusty Neofolk intro and second to last seconds, and the hypnotic 12-minute opus Ritual Folk Ambient closing track.
The guitar work is very much inspired by Folk melodies, Heathen Rock, and Finnish Pagan BM, as well as acts like Circle of Ouroborus, Starcave or neighbouring projects like Arckanum or Wagner Ödegård, with beautiful melodies and very rustic sound, particularly in the tremolo acoustic guitars of "Lintu, Selässään Maailmojen Vuoret", oen of my personal highlights, while the percussion varies between programmed drums, real wonky drums and other percussive sounds. A very interesting and mystical sound that beautifully fits the themes of fantasy and adventure across this artist's microcosmos.
