Nekron are an ambient black metal band from Poland. A one man project, this is the bands sophomore release 'Borders of the Light and Darkness'. Upon first listen you can tell the band is heavily influenced by early Burzum, specifically 'Hvis' & 'Filosofem'. The music is slow and very simplistic but the keyboard melodies are very trance indulging, something Varg was so good at. Towards the end of the album you get a few ambient only pieces. All in all i really enjoy this album and it is perfect companion at this time of night. I am not sure how active Nekron are these days, this album came out in 2014. If you like your black metal minimalistic and hypnotic you should love this.

Nekron is a Polish band that has just released their second album. It's been on my mind since the memorable Triptykon concert in Krakow, so it's high time to get down to the review. Nekron's inspirations are very clear and if someone didn't pick them up, it means they started listening to black metal yesterday at 10 p.m. "Border of Light and Darkness" is one big tribute to Burzum. It's just a shame that it's to Burzum in the black/ambient version, which I'm not a fan of. So we have here monotonous, fucking slow riffing, keyboard splashes and sporadic drum hits. On top of that, a wheezing screech, very similar to Varga's. I know that this should be nostalgic playing, maybe a bit melancholic and sinister at the same time, but I perceive it more as monotonous. However, I prefer this livelier version of Burzum, from the first three albums, than from what started on "Filosofem" and that's why "Border of Light and Darkness" is a bit boring for me, unfortunately. Not my cup of tea, especially since I'm not and never was a devoted Burzum fan. Maybe that's the main reason why I haven't been convinced to listen to the second album of this one-man band yet, but there are probably people who will like this album. What more can I say - an album intended for a narrow group of supporters of a specific period of Burzum's work. They will definitely like it. Especially since I just noticed that the name of the Norwegian band has been mentioned here more times than the name Nekron,
