The lyric of "Actaeon" is taken from the Ezra Pound poem "Actaeon: The Coming Of The War".
Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.
“Europa Europae,” a limited edition full-length album of five hundred hand-numbered copies, represents the full-length debut for Mors Summa, a Roman project of pure NSBM, behind which lies Summanus, the mastermind and driving force behind the excellent Hirpus. The style is fairly typical for the genre, and the album alternates very fast episodes charged with unconditional and iconoclastic violence with more thoughtful and evocative moments, well supported by a suffused layer of keyboards and a vaguely epic flavor reminiscent of early Graveland or Infernum. The opener, “Howlings From The Forest Of Old,” a long suite lasting almost nine minutes, opens with a very classic military ambient intro and then explodes into a very tight and very dark riff, supported by a drum machine programmed at very high speeds, and is undoubtedly the best piece of the lot, balancing destructive rage and philosophical meditation. The other songs flow pleasantly at a more than acceptable level of quality without causing any hype; “Actaeon” is a furious piece, full of dramatic pathos, with lyrics drawn from Ezra Pound’s poem “Actaeon: The Coming of War.” The closing cover of Intolleranza’s “Werwolf” is also good, featuring a highly tragic and emotional use of keyboards. The raw, raw production is perfectly in line with our band’s approach. The lyrics, inspired by the thought and work of Julius Evola, address the lost greatness of the Roman Empire and the possible spiritual unity of Europe, to be rebuilt on the basis of ancient values. “Europa Europae” is, all things considered, a heartfelt and sincere work of considerable value, which will appeal especially to those who support the more uncompromising sounds contaminated by heavy Eastern European influences, but will not displease everyone else either.
