Improvisation enregistrée en live au Drudenhaus en Août 2013 par Xort

Those with a keen interest in French Black Metal have probably heard of Malhkebre, Sektarism having all the hallmarks of a side project, given that the same members are at the helm of the Toulouse-based Drone Doom entity.
Having said that, either you flee the genre like the Black Death, or the idea of spending an hour in a pagan mass appeals to you, in which case you'll have to dive deep into La mort de l'infidèle. Three tracks, each twelve, twenty, and thirty minutes long, require discerning ears as well as a significant amount of concentration.
Yet, despite the abstruse aspect of the subject (it's hard to get more uncommercial), we must recognize the band's rare literary talent, which could be reminiscent of Léon Bloy, Lautréamont, or Eros Nécropsique, particularly on the opening track "ô Seigneur," which is more of a distorted form of spoken-word poetry than a simple song. For the rest, you'll have to appreciate repetitive structures and ritualistic atmospheres, Sektarism's strength lying in its ability to distort space and time, filling it with a mephitic poison and heretical vapors.
A record as strange as it is fascinating, singular, proudly carrying the French language towards paths we don't often hear anymore. The words are rare (in the sense of rarely used), carefully chosen, the music, without saying that it's incidental, ultimately being there only to give even more weight to the sentences. Impressively dark.
