Torrent "Between The Stones" CD

Descripción When masterminds combine their powers, there are just two possibilites for the outcome: either it is doomed to failure or it is outstanding. In Torrent the two masterminds of the bands Judas Iscariot and Nargaroth, namely Akhenaten and Kanwulf (Ash), work together on material that does not fit to either of the bands. They do not fail.
Okay, this EP is neither revolutionary nor in some way very special, it's just raw black metal with a slight touch of melody. The majority of the songs is this fast, they would not fit to the main projects of both guys. All songs tend to be a bit more influenced by Judas Iscariot than by Nargaroth, which may be provoked by the fact, that Akhenaten plays all the instruments and this is rather his project. He focuses more on creating a dark atmosphere by playing simple riffs, while Kanwulf always adds more melody to his music. Consider Torrent as a mix of both, with Judas Iscariot prevailing.
"Between the Stones" stays in the listeners ears, the songs are memorable and comprehensible. The most inspiring song is the title track, which deals with midtempo and a very simple melody quite effectively. It has something special about it, which has to be felt, but then will never go away. Really amazing.
The lyrical concept bases on a book written by one of the members of Torrent, which was never released because of being „too dangerous“ - sounds as if it came from Kanwulf. Well done vocals cry out the haunting lyrics very intensely. The whole concept makes this release a recommendable acquisition. I do not get, why there are still copies of the limited 7'' left – there must be more than 333 fans of Judas Iscariot and Nargaroth out there.
