Source "Spelling Swords" vinyl 7"EP

When guitarist Richard Lagergren left the mighty Portrait back in 2012, he immediately worked on forming his own band. He called Patrick Dagland, who had been sitting in as a drummer for Portrait. In 2015, Oscar Carlquist, whom you might know from the band Ram, expressed an interest in recording and possibly singing on the material. The four tracks included on the debut EP released in 2018, were quite technical in the sense that they contained a vast array of different riffs. "Spelling Swords" is Source's brand new 7" single, and includes 2 songs.

Do you worship the King? Well whether you do or not, Source make sure as hell that they pay their respects to King Diamond. Source play a darker take on traditional heavy metal with a focus on guitar leads and high pitched vocals. The Mercyful Fate and King Diamond similarities are uncanny, but this is more than just a mere worship project. The songwriting is superb and Source are one of the best bands out there in this style, Spelling Swords just continues to prove this.
