Sterbeklang is a one man BM project from Germany, developing the aesthetics of ambient electronic music mixed with minimalistic black metal. This amalgam could be labelled as "atmospheric", yet the keyobards are totally out of the way /cheesy/hypnotic/surreal - you name it. They sound like they've been taken out from some 50's space sci-fi music (theremin's sound is a good reference), and, to my surprise, the last instrumental, guitarless track reminds me of hints of melodies captured by damaged neurons of The Caretaker.
Actually 3 tracks on this 5-track album are purely electronic and the two remaining metal songs are soaked in weird keyboards too, so I'd rather label Sterbeklang's music as electronic black metal with a twist. Whatever the pigeonholes, "Leere" is very emotional album even if you find the keyboard parts too straightforward and drum the machines a bit artificial. Whatever, this is good monumental music, like more austere and stripped down version of Hin part of Hin-Fort. I'm waiting for more.
