Although Stodor Wilzorum is a fairly new name on the publishing market, it's hard to call them newcomers. This Polish-German venture consists of musicians who have eaten bread from more than one oven, especially Wened Wilk Sławibor, who is handling vocals here, and is probably going for a record on the domestic scene. However, this is really of no great importance, because even the most battle-hardened knight can have a rare mess in the middle of the field. "Trauermystik" is thirty-something minutes of black metal, three compositions plus a short lead-in at the end. However, this was enough to completely fool me. These three long compositions are basically a black metal trance. Based on multiple repetitions of flowing, eventually seeming to vibrate around the head, incredibly catchy, frostily melodic tremolos, acting like a poison injected into the body causing paralysis. There are not many transitions, tempo changes or unnecessary ornaments. Simplicity is the key here. Everything is based on really good harmonies that are hard to break away from, and the fact that they flow on a loop causes time to speed up incredibly and before we can close our mouths, which are open with amazement, the album ends. What is important is that "Trauermystik" is an unbroken monolith, a complete story in which ambient or acoustic fragments are also extremely important. Like the introduction to "Shower of Winter Roads", which is a kind of transformation. Because while the opening track "Wszczekłość Mroźnej Nocy" is a song based vocally on an extremely intense scream, causing you to feel really uncomfortable, it is after the aforementioned transition that the rest of the journey takes place mainly with a clear, I would even say dignified, voice telling its stories like a ghost hidden in a thick fog of sounds. The previously mentioned melodies, in turn, dignify themselves deeper and deeper into memory with each listen and cause a strong addiction. When the last sounds of the crowning work "Rabenflügel in wölfischer Finsternis" are heard, which awakens us from hypnosis with disturbing sounds accompanied by declamations and terrifying screams, we experience a genuine emptiness and to fill it, there is nothing left but to turn on the debut of Stodor Wilzorum from the beginning. This material swept me away, without a doubt. I hope that this is not a one-time experiment and that the gentlemen will record something else together. In any case, I will definitely be waiting.
