Typhus: Probably the most unholy cd I have in my collection. The song names are very interesting as well as the lyrics being quite disgusting, but I like them anyways.
Lord Typhus has a very interesting, understandable, and a very tolerable voice. He handles the bass duties as well, contributing some well-played bass lines.
Nacht handles the lead guitars. In between him and Lord Typhus, they come up with some very interesting and original sounding guitar riffs. Listen to Coprophagic Communion Upon The Holy Altar for one of the best black metal songs ever written, the guitar parts remind of a whole guitar solo played throughout the whole song.
Moon’s drumming and china crash abuse adds the right amount of intense backbone to this unholy masterpiece.
Your Savior Caught Drinking The Piss of the Apostles is another one of my favorite songs off of this album. It starts with a nice little acoustic intro and then intensifies to unleash some of the most blasphemous lyrics I have ever read. I don’t think this band is satanic just for “show”…They play like they mean it and really stand behind it. Anal Rape Of The Virgin Mary has some very strange vokills at the beginning and a little bit throughout the song, but I think it works with the music.
Some of the songs are along the 6-minute mark, but Typhus shows the ability to keep the songs fresh and interesting, they don’t play the same boring crap 20 times throughout the songs. I agree with the bands statement in saying that they have actually come up with an original approach to making unholy black metal that will put them up at the top with a few of the masters.
If you like real satanic underground as fuck black metal, no homo keyboards or female vocals thrown in for “atmosphere”, then this release is highly recommended…this is coming from someone that despises this “genre” of metal.
