Track 11 Immortal cover!!

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Hungarian Extreme Metal scene, and at least from the outside it’s cool to see a quite thriving scene with steady bands that establish themselves more an more in time, but also new names popping up now and then delivering good quality material. And here is an example of that, a one man band that appeared out of nowhere with its debut full-length album, a 10 tracks material (plus a bonus track, a cover of Immortal’s “Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark)”) clocking 40 minutes of playing time. Despite the poor (in my opinion) face paint of the Axafan, the individual behind Urachel, and the AI generated cover artwork (well, there are way bigger names using this nowadays, so it’s becoming a norm) the music is surprisingly good, diverse, rich in composition, expressive, melodic at times, dark and oppressive most of the time, technical, reminding me of the ’90’s Black Metal bands like Kovenant, Old Man’s Child, Arcturus or Immortal. With lyrics that take inspiration from demonology, the tracks all have like a mysterious, dark cloak around them given by a subtle keyboard background but also by clever semi-acoustic guitar passages, melodic leads and solos, and an overall good balance between the fast and serious passages and the slow and mid-tempo parts where atmosphere prevails. Yes, balance is the word that comes to mind after playing this album, I’d say it can be easily embraced by all fans of the genre no matter if they prefer more brutal forms of Black Metal or the melodic side of it. I’ve played the album three times already and I like it as much as the first time, maybe even better, so from my point of view here we have a successful debut that obliges Urachel to deliver an even better follow-up album. What I have here is a Pro CDR edition of the album with 8 pages booklet featuring all lyrics, but very limited to only 25 hand-numbered copies; in my opinion this material deserves a wider audience and hopefully a label will pick it up and re-release it.
