After the terrific debut album “Vampire” (DSR015/2016) and the EP “Chimmerian Shade” (DSR016/2016) we finally can offer you a tape-version from the second album “With Primeval Force” (2017) from Swedish Black/Thrash outlaws VAMPIRE!
A hateful, heavy and aggressive piece of Swedish Death/Thrash Metal…Pro-tape edition. Limited to 333 copies only.
I can still remember the first time I heard this album. I had been watching some album reviews on the BANGERTV YouTube channel and I came across a review of a Canadian death metal band by the name of Outre-Tombe. I quickly checked out the album on YouTube, and I enjoyed it. I then noticed a video in my recommendations: Vampire - With Primeval Force. I had no idea what to expect, but the cover art was so cool I just had to give it a listen.Ten seconds into the opening track, I knew I'd made a really good call. By the time the first chorus hit, this album had me hook, line, and sinker. First off, the energy this album has is almost unparalleled. It's fast, it's aggressive, it's in-your-face, and it makes you just wanna punch a hole through a wall. The riffage is absolutely delicious as well. From the opening seconds of "Knights of the Burning Crypt" you get a sense of the kind of riffs you're going to get from the rest of this absolute beast of an album. It's sinister, it's angry, and they make use of interesting and somewhat dissonant guitar harmonies from time to time. Every now and then, they throw you a really nice-sounding melody, however. You'll hear some melo-death inspired riffs and chord progressions once in a while that wouldn't sound out of place on an album like The Jester Race. While the tasty guitar riffs are the main appeal of this album for me, something should be said about the rest of the band. The drums have high energy and always seem to be playing the perfect beat for whatever riff is being played over it. There are some really memorable fills as well, but nothing absurdly technical. The vocals are passable at best, but somehow work perfectly for this band's unique style. The vocalist's throaty rasps that occasionally crack (and sound painful, to be honest) fit this music so much better than a deep growl or a piercing shriek would. I honestly don't think this album would have the same charm if a better vocalist were at the helm.I think that's what I really like about this album. It's dark and sinister, and the players are all fairly proficient, but not perfect. It isn't sloppy, but it's a bit raw and it really sounds like a bunch of guys who are just having fun and playing music that they love. This album has attitude, and lots of it. More than anything, this record is just so much fun. So many bands these days are so serious, and there's definitely a time and a place for that. But when you want to just have fun and bang your head real hard, this album is a great choice.
