35th Anniversary Edition.
The first Demo of the Czech thrash metal legend celebrates 35 years! Birthday edition. Digipak + 16 pages booklet with story in Czech and English!
Reissue of the 1990 demotape (remastered), with new artwork and bonustracks recorded in 2015.
V.A.R. is the one band that amounted to the highest number of recordings released through my label Pařát. I did the work, started counting... and in total, up to and including 2024, there are two full-length albums out on CD, with 2019’s “Temná...” also in the form a 2CD digipak, four CD re-releases, three vinyls, along with a tribute album on CD. This makes it 11 releases in total and now you are reading the booklet of the 12th one. Add posters and interviews for the Pařát magazine, published between 2000 and 2022, merchandise...
At the beginning of October 2024, I recalled that it was exactly 10 years since the CD release of their “Level 6” album, which started our collaboration. The CD was released in October 2014, attached to the 60th issue of Pařát magazine, but it was also sold separately, and thanks to its distribution at the time, it reached approximately three thousand collectors worldwide. The following year (i.e. 2015), their drummer Jeny approached me with another release. V.A.R. were just about to go to the Hacienda studio to re-record some songs from their demo “No Place to Hide” to celebrate its 25th birthday. What if this recording was also released on Pařát? As a V.A.R. fan, I agreed enthusiastically.
It sold like hot cakes and sometime at the end of 2016 I could declare the whole edition sold out. That’s why I considered making a re-release, this time as a digipak, with an entirely new booklet, filled with much more content. Also, with a modified front cover, because instead of the 25th birthday we are now celebrating the 35th birthday of “No Place to Hide” (smile). The musical content is identical, as the complete recording is on the edge of the sound capacity of a single CD.
The debut album “Personal Destruction” was first re-released on CD by Underground Records in 2012, so Pařát Productions released a “vinyl only” re-edition in 2022, and I left the ideas for another new CD to those interested around the world.
V.A.R.’s recordings from the first half of the 1990s are still the most acclaimed not only in the CZ/SK underground, but also abroad. With all due respect to their subsequent albums - “Závislost” (1995) or “Pod vodou” (1998) - I can confirm from the position of the reissue publisher that there was much less interest in these from the collectors.
I believe you will be as happy about this release as I am.
