Long awaited second album, released on CD format by Werewolf Promotion on Winter Solstice 2023
There, meaning where? Where do they go? Why did a person have to wait eight years for a new Vitezia album? I don't know... It's still a shame, because I'm starting the review a few months after the official premiere, but what can I do if the transfer from the band arrived so late?
"Kruki" is the second full-fledged album of this Gdańsk band and the first material in the aforementioned eight years, the guys are in no hurry, but that's a good thing, because the pagan black metal they serve is top shelf. From the very first listen, it's clear that the band has put every effort into creating an album that not only lives up to, but even surpasses, their debut.
Melodic solos and a well-recorded drum kit create an atmosphere that cannot be ignored. This album is not only black metal "bullets", but also calmer parts. The guys perfectly balance between aggression and calmer, folk parts, which introduce a Slavic atmosphere, which is dosed in the right amounts so that you do not turn into a turbo Slav.
Vocally also diversity hehe, from angry screams and wails to melancholic chants. The lyrics are in the Slavic spirit, but there are no surprises here, the musicians have been marking their attachment to tradition for years.
"Tam, Gdzie Odlatują Kruki" is an album that deserves to be called a complete work. Viteź proves that he can combine folk accents with aggressive metal into an easy-to-absorb mass. A must-have for fans of the genre. The album is probably a banger live, but we will find out on November 16 during the performance in the Tri-City area.
