Brutal Black / Death Metal from Greece!! Obscure and uncompromising death / doom
Deus Ignotus are a band from Greece that plays a very raw form of black metal with some touches of death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Hexapterygon" which was released by III Damnation Records. Ritualistic sounds start off the album before going into more of a dark and melodic direction and after awhile the music speeds up along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which gives the music more of a raw feeling along with some bestial growls and the songs bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very chaotic black/death metal style while also adding melodies in some of the songs and the riffs also mix in a decent amount of death metal influences and grim black metal vocals along with spoken word parts can also be heard at times and there is also a brief use of melodic yet ritualistic chanting and all of the songs stick to a heavy musical direction. Deus Ignotus plays a style of black metal that can be very raw and bestial at times while also mixing in a touch of death metal and a decent amount of melody which makes their music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Anti Christianity, Occultism, Mysticism, Darkness and Pessimism themes. In my opinion Deus Ignotus are a very great sounding raw black metal with a touch of death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Symbol" "Despotic Heresy" and "URban Messiah Lynched".
