Since forming in 2009, this band hasn't released very many recordings and as of this time of writing this demo was still the only multi-song release from Fernom where they (maybe he?) didn't share space with another band. Fernom play a very raw style of melodic BM with a bleached sickly sound which might have more to do with the state of the recording studio or other facility to produce this work than with any intention on their part to create something sounding so deliberately trashy, raw and nauseating. As the album title and song titles say, the band's lyrical themes revolve around the indigenous cultures of Colombia and how these were destroyed by Spanish colonisers. The music is very energetic though it's not especially fast and the sound bleeds raw pain and crunch. The scratchy vocals are positively overflowing with acid bile that would burn holes through ceilings and floors. Songs go along at an easy, sometimes relaxed pace and the drumming isn't anything out of the ordinary, sticking to its essential time-keeping role. While Fernom plays well and the band's sound is very distinctive, individually the songs don't stand out much - they're pretty much standard raw black metal with typical BM riffs, tunes and rhythms. Maybe if the gritty bleached sound was a bit less corrosive so that more of the drumming and melodies could be heard, the songs might sound better than they do. The voices are too far back in the mix for this music as well and need to be much more upfront because they are very throaty. Later in the album there are tracks with acoustic guitar music but this relief is usually brief. On the whole, the album sounds a lot longer than it does, mainly because so much of it sounds monotonous and ordinary. The only track I thought the best is the end piece which is all acoustic guitar melody - but where's the pre-Hispanic Colombian music?
