Galdr ‎"Mörkergång" CD

Final album in the early trilogy of Galdr. This is a conceptual album based around the intersection of Void consciousness, Meditation, and Shamanistic practices broadly. A majestically enchanting, trance-inducing album of buzzing riffs that lock in to hypnotically repetitive patterns then slowly undercut the mood with a grey pall of DSBM-toned melodies similar to bands like None, ColdWorld or Begotten (the awesome one, not the other 12); and like those bands, this is a magnificent adrenaline rush of a record.
Galdr are part of One Void Collective in the US, alongside Vanagandr and Ancalagon, and one of a growing number of exemplary anti-fascist pagan black metal bands making their presence felt (shout out to Ungfell for their unequivocal statement on Facebook recently). This album was first released in 2015 on Darker Than Black in a relationship that has since been emphatically terminated, with the band adopting their more assertive stance along with the manifesto of the Unity Temple collective, and now this re-release on explicitly anti-fascist labels looks to eclipse that past.
