IN KETTEN was a band with a short "lifetime", from the beginning of 1994 to the middle of 1995. Three members of ABSURD - DMD (vocals/guitar), JFN (drums) and CHS (bass guitar) - were locked up in the Erfurt remand prison at that time. Of course they couldn't appear there as ABSURD after the band was present everywhere in the media, but as a camouflage they simply formed IN KETTEN and rehearsed ABSURD songs. However, a few songs, like "Ein letzter Kuss", were written exclusively for IN KETTEN. IN KETTEN played a total of five concerts behind bars, the last one took place in the Ichtershausen Juvenile Detention Center in June 1995. After a sound processing in the Abgrund Tonstudio in Berlin, this concert is now released in full length on CD for the first time. After this fifth concert, the three band members were transferred to different prisons. Neither was there a continuation of IN KETTEN after that, nor was ABSURD ever reformed in the "classic line-up". But without IN KETTEN the ABSURD recordings of "Out of the Dungeon", "Thuringian Pagan Madness", and "Fac. L......." would never have existed.
