Black Metal-influenced progressive rock from the North-Hungarian Bükk mountains. Songs forged in anger and disappointment. Originally released on 4 May 2014 on self-released tape, limited to 100 hand-numbered copies
Karst are a band from Hungary that plays a mixture of progressive black metal and extreme rock and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Lime Veins Bleed Rust". A very melodic classic rock style sound starts off the album before adding in some aggressive vocals and screams that are in the more black metal direction as well as having a depressive tone to them and the band also adds in a decent amount of melody into t heir musical sound and they also speed up at times along with a small amount of blast beats. There are a lot of many different types of musical genres being mixed in with the bands progressive black metal sound and the vocals also use of mixture of deep deep and high pitched vocals as well as adding clean playing into certain sections of the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can hear a great amount of post rock/metal elements being utilized throughout the recording as well as a small amount of sound effects. As the album progresses more raw black metal influences are added into the faster sections of the bands musical sound as well as a small amount of spoken word parts being added onto on of the later songs and after awhile the music gets more progressive sounding with folk music style flutes, acoustic guitars, percussion's and keyboards being added while the main focus remains on a heavier sound and they also bring in alternative rock influences on some of the later tracks to give the album a more original sounding feeling, one of the later songs shows the band adding in jazz music elements before returning back to a heavier direction and some of the songs are very long and epic in length. Karst create a very original and progressive style of black metal with their musical sound as well as being influenced by a great amount of other musical genres which they add into their sound and there is also a great amount of diversity in all of the tracks that are on the recording and they also add in a great amount of garage rock elements into t heir musical style, the production sounds very dark, heavy and raw while the lyrics are written in Hungarian and cover nature, dirt and dissolution. In my opinion Karst are a very great sounding mixture of progressive metal and extreme garage rock and if you are a fan of those musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Halogoto" "Norak es lidercek" "Savos" and "Van egy malom".
