Messiah Nöstrum is a technical death metal band from Spain based in Alicante.
I still have several releases from last year on my to-do list that have piled up. Today I'm going to talk about this great work from my friends Messiah Nostrum, their debut album, which has taken a considerable amount of time to be released.
The truth is, I had listened to it briefly before, but I had to listen to it more carefully and calmly to appreciate all the elements it contains. The music they offer, I would say, is progressive and very technical Death Metal, with influences from bands like Revocation, Decapitated, Pestilence's "Spheres" and what came after, Death's later albums, and even a touch of Gojira. That's Messiah Nostrum.
The guitars make the album stand out solidly, as they possess a very high level of compositional richness. Rafa has great technique, which is logical given that he's been playing for three decades. The vocals have a good guttural sound with varied registers, and among that variety, the only thing I would do without are those growls closer to Deathcore or Metalcore that blend with a more raspy and screeching style, which, frankly, I prefer.
The album has a runtime of 47 minutes across 8 tracks. The production is clean, the cover art is quite good, and they decided to self-release the album, so if you like it, don't hesitate to contact the band.
In short, it's a remarkable work of progressive and technical Death Metal. If you're a fan of the style, you're in luck, because you'll undoubtedly enjoy Messiah Nostrum. It's an album that deserves more attention and respect for its excellent display of technical skill.
