I can only listen to raw black metal along the lines of Hypothermia, Dyster and blood red fog for so long. Nihil Nocturne's Necrohell to me shows an amazing amount musical awareness by the duo that results in an album that lasts a LOT of listens.
To me Necrohell is almost perfect, the production and all the instruments in it are very well balanced without anything being overpowering, even when they used things like clean guitars and keyboards, both these elements took on a 'just there' feel when used as opposed to other bands who manage to butcher their songs by not blending properly. The shared vocals are also stunningly performed especially compared to their other material including Wahsinn Tod Verrat which in my mind was a little bit of a let down (but then again, how do you follow up such a great album as this?)
Up until the last two songs each song is built around mid tempo guitar riffs which are shockingly simple for their effectiveness, this lets the band fulfill a traditional verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, end type song structure which allows them to build the songs into a climax before ending them.
