Tracks 09-16: "The Threnody for the Tortured" (Demo, 1997).
In times that seem to be far away today, when we were grateful for every new album, for every band that wasn't afraid, in the years when we were young, beautiful and carefree, then back in a city called Jihlava was a group called
PARRICIDE.
When someone tells me the band’s name, the first thing that comes to my mind is the song title by the famous band PESTILENCE (second song on the album "Malleus Maleficarum" from 1988). Similarity purely random? I have no idea, but I am sure for a hundred percent that the maniacs from Jihlava approached the music in a very similar way. Then add no less important and in their creation imprinted DEATH. Technical, thoughtful, intelligent death metal is what's going on here (or was going on from 1997 to 1999). Do you know what's most impressive? Even after such a period,
PARRICIDE’s music did not lose its strength.
Maybe I could imagine better CD's adaptation, more beautiful cover art, but that's not the point. It's great that even today in the times of mp3, streaming services, and superficial listening, there are people who don't forget at our musical history. I confess without torture, I spent several hours searching for an original recorded tape from a friend (not found, unfortunately) and I really enjoyed the listening. I don't understand why this group didn't receive more popularity? This is not just a matter for us, the old archivists, but for the music itself. I really like the sound, it will probably be slightly modified compared to the original one, but the spirit of the time stayed preserved. The cover with the eye, what I would say about it, the band probably didn't care much about it before. But leave the memories, only the music will remain, and it will still burn, cut, be unusually varied, and interesting. There are plenty of emotions, and the material was composed by great musicians who knew precisely what they wanted to play. How to conclude this? I would say just that this album should not be missing in the collection of any death metal fan. I enjoyed the trip in the traces of the lost time. All we must do is to pay tribute to all who deserve it. Excellent work!
