About 30 years ago this demo was recorded in an 8-track reel-to-reel studio in thecentre of Bergen. The studio, which usually catered to the alternative rock and indiebands of Bergen, was called REC 90. As far as I know Astaroth, Mortify and Bak DeSyv Fjell recorded there in 1995. At the time we had our rehearsal room adjacent toour local church at Laksevåg where we are from. The reason for this closeness to thechurch, I believe where due to the fact that Cato (drums) father knew the priest andthe priest was probably kind of intrigued at having one of these new metal bands inhouse so to speak. We could practise anytime we wanted after office hours as longas it didn´t collide with any Christ-related activities, and being the nice guys that wewere this strange relationship worked very well. Since we practised a lot to prepare,we recorded this demo in one day. We sent it to NRF for duplication, copied thecovers at our parents’ workplaces or the local post office, and sent out a few tapes tolabels and sold some through flyers, but most got sold hand to hand in Norway. Wehad a lot of other songs lined up for a follow-up, or ideally a full length if we hadgotten a record contract, but that never happened. Probably not so strange as wedidn´t promote it much. Looking back at it now, I think it sounds quite good, betterthan I remembered, but I would have like to listen to our next release if that hadhappened. I think we were on to something, but at the time we didn´t manage tofocus enough. After all this happened when we were between 16 and 18ish and therewere more than enough disturbances from other sides of life. I really can´t rememberwhy it ended, but I hope you who reads this can find this small piece of theNorwegian black metal puzzle interesting and always remember to say a firm NO toJesus.
