Retrosatan were catalogued as the first black metal band in Argentina. If we comment that Mercyful fate was catalogued as black metal too, then this may be right. But by today’s metal genre definitions, Retrosatan would be a damn fine Speed/Traditional Metal band with resemblances to 80´s Mercyful Fate, especially on the lyrical approach. “Exorcizando La Cruz” is a total mayhem in the vein of Judas Priest in the early 80´s. “Fuego Cruzado” and “Esperando El Final” are decadent and obnoxious but yet flawlessly played.
All of the songs are nicely done and well-crafted, alternating between the mid pace and the raging speed with lyrics about aggression, primitive Satanism and obliteration.
Retrosatan were the argentine version of Mercyful Fate but with lots of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden influences, something quite easy to note in the prominent guitars in the mix, double lead solos, nice drum fills and powerful old-school riffs.
Conclusion: a damn efficient speed metal album and a fare testimony of the uprising argentine scene in the mid 80´s.
