Caribbean Legend: Waraira Repano.
It is said that one day the tribes offended the great Goddess of the Sea, and the Gods unleashed their wrath upon the indigenous people of the Caracas Valley.
Although the shamans tried to avert the punishment, a roar heralded the arrival of a great wave that would sweep away men, stones, trees, and animals, foreshadowing the extinction of life.
Before the repentant cries of the people, who begged forgiveness on their knees, the Goddess showed mercy, and just as the wave was about to crash down upon them, she transformed into the great mountain that exists today.
Then the sun appeared, and a rainbow streaked across the valley. Everyone turned toward the mountain, revering its imposing silhouette while shouting "Waraira Repano!" changing colors with the passage of the sun, just as the sea does.
