Septicemia's half hour of music is not quite what you might expect from members of Septic Flesh, Horrified and Nightfall. Instead of slow, somewhat mediocre doom/death metal what we have here is some classic death metal with thrash influences similar to country mates Death Courier. I'm not sure I'd label this style "technical" although it is a competent display of musicianship with a nice amount of variation.
The sound quality here is decent, if not good for a vinyl album. My only access to this release is a rip from vinyl, but there is minimal needle noise. I'm not entirely sure what to compare this bands sound to, at times it invokes some of death metal's earliest raw efforts such as Insanity (US) and other times it is as dark and cavernous as early Samael. The recording quality is good stuff, I can clearly hear each instrument and yes... even the bass guitar. Tempo is nicely varied making sure each song is a separate entity, with an identity each their own. The only real downside to this album is that it doesn't leave enough of an impression to really draw me in again and again. It's excellent stuff, sure but it is pure musicianship and riffing and very little memorable character.
I'd recommend this rare EP to anyone who enjoys thrash metal influenced old school death metal with an intense raw edge.
