With a rather curious and striking title, the controversial Niklas Kvarforth and his followers return to the forefront of extreme current events with the EP "Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt." It features four covers of some surprising bands, to say the least. This is the case with bands like IMPERIET and KENT, as well as KATATONIA and POETS OF THE FALL.
The album opens with a cover of "For My Demons." SHINING performs a version very faithful to the original, except for a few initial guitar chords. The rest of the tracks follow this same path, that is, with the characteristic features of the bands they cover and not of SHINING themselves.
Throughout, we hear music that's incredibly melodic and even catchy, with acoustic guitars in some passages and more metal-like electric guitars in "For My Demons." Throughout, Niklas shows us a new side with a melodic register from beginning to end.
All fans of this Swedish band who listen to this should keep in mind that "Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt" is not SHINING, but rather Niklas and company indulging in covers and almost carbon copies of some of their favorite songs.
