Compiles songs from "Bloodthirsty Humanity" (2004) and "Armies of Hell" (2006).
Following up their Bloodthirsty humanity EP, suicidal angels released yet another EP titled Armies of Hell. This is the final EP/demo creation of the Greek thrashers, as they have just been offered a record deal by the American OSM (old school Metal) records, a very respectable label by looking at its roster (e.g. Laaz Rockit). What is remarkable about this band is that within 2 years they have come up with 3 demo tapes (United by Hate, The Calm Before the Storm, Bloodthirsty humanity) and an EP! Believe it is all kickass material. For suicidal Angels there is nothing mediocre or bad. Moreover, now they are going to start recording material for their first full - length album that will contain brand new material and no (or few) material from previous demos!!!Taking a look at the album cover one immediately notices the really refined artwork. Do not get me wrong. I do not judge a book by its cover; however, when you see very nice artwork in a demo/EP release you understand immediately that a lot of work and effort has precluded. Really catchy artwork on merely a 4 track EP.What really made me like this album was its complete uniqueness. Yes, Suicidal Angels play thrash influenced mainly by Slayer and Kreator however they have their own very unique style. Living in the scene and listening to most Greek local bands, I can assure you that this band is the best thing Greek metal will ever have within the next few years. They haven't even released their first full length, yet they have managed to establish their own unique character and feel. With 4 demos they have managed to explore/ expand thrash metal music pushed the barriers of the style substantially. You can easily determine right away that what you are listening to is Suicidal Angels just like when listening to Razor or Exodus.Guitar riffs are excellent. Suicidal Angels manage to give some amazing rhythmic riffs. Although this album has NO solos, and this could be thought of as a negative point, the rhythmic guitar work is very fast and technical. Another point that is easily noticeable is that even though technical, the music is raw and gives you a “street feeling”. The lyrics are all allusions to personal incidents the band members have experienced, living in the Athenian streets –these kids are no richlings-Thrashmetal bands usually do not emphasize in production, a major drawback. A final point that elevates the album even higher is its satisfactory production.Surely, this is the best material I have listened to lately. So, if you are a thrash metal fan, you should purchase this album IMMEDIATELY! If you are a not a thrashmetal fan, they are worth giving them a try. At least, check out their myspace and listen to some of their material
