THEOSOPHY is a Black Metal from the heart of cold Siberia! The band was founded in 2004.

Following on from 2012’s part I, Theosophy released “Eastland Tale – Part II” at the end of last year. The spirit of their cold homeland of Siberia adorns the albums cover-art, with skulls and a logo that already gives you a hint at what to expect.

Theosophy douse themselves in corpse paint, plug in their guitars and produce an album filled with riffs and heavy blast beats. Then of course, there’s the vocals, with opening track “Slaves of Destiny” being a fairly standard piece of metal, its transformed by the presence of Phantom. Phantom is the stage name of the bands’ founding member, who’s been fronting the group for the past 10 years.

Tracks such as “Buried in my Grave” and “Riders of the Hellstorm” are unforgiving, all out black metal and ultimately what you want to hear from the Russians. There are some brutal guitars from Egiborg and Svåarth on the likes of “My Hatred in my Hands“, while in general the keyboards are often hidden in the background. That is until last track “The End of Tales”, an instrumental made up of synths and acoustic guitars. If this was “Eastland Tales…” opener, you’d be lured in to a false sense of security. Don’t fear though, for Theosophy aren’t likely to release an unplugged album anytime soon. So, if you’re after some black metal with accessible riffs, then Theosophy are a band to look out for.
