Przasnyski's Thirst has been active in our black metal scene since the early 1990s, but despite such experience, they have only three full-length albums to their name, each released relatively far apart. But does quantity matter? Not at all. Quality matters. And so it is in this case. Thirst is our answer to Emperor or Limbonic Art. They also serve up complex compositions with a heavy dose of atmosphere, keyboard backing, guitar melody, and even, perhaps above all, sublime symphonic music in the style of "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" or "Moon in the Scorpio." Of course, all this doesn't deprive these recordings of a healthy dose of black metal fury, interwoven with melodic, symphonic passages. The group's mastermind is Occulta, responsible for the bulk of the material. It's a shame that so little is said or written about Thirst, as they're a band with immense potential and talent; they're world-class black metal art. But since the group has chosen to remain in the shackles of the underground, there's no point arguing with that. Every now and then, they treat us to incredibly powerful material, and I hope it lasts as long as possible. I listen to Thirst with immense pleasure; their music is memorable after the first listen, as there are relatively few bands in Poland that play this way. I wonder if, in 1993, they weren't the first band on the scene to follow the imperial path of black metal. They became particularly famous in the scene with their first album, "The Might of the Pagan Belief," released a year later. I sincerely encourage you to check out "Blacklight," which is currently the latest album released by Thirst and which I've presented below, as well as the band's other releases, because they're truly worth listening to. You could say it's a concept album that revolves around the theme of darkness in its various aspects. In my opinion, this is the band's best material to date, fully showcasing their potential and the style I described above. It's their magnum opus, not only compositionally but also sonically."Blacklight" was released by Alles Stenar in 2007. It could be described as a concept album that revolves around the theme of darkness. The album is styled as an old, medieval book, full of images characteristic of the era, related to death, hell, and fallen angels. It has a very atmospheric feel and perfectly complements the album's content.
