Vardan is an Italian solo black metal artist, primarily operating within the depressive black metal sub-genre. The project was founded in 1997 and has been releasing material since 2004 with its debut album Hidden in a Tomb arriving in 2007.
Vardan became quite productive from 2013 onward with multiple full-length albums being released every year, totalling seventeen by the end of 2015.
The project was largely quiet through 2016, releasing only a lone split with black metal act Tundra, but resumed its productivity in 2017, releasing a further five full-length albums, with more slated for 2018.
