What is Garazel sending me here again? Some EP by a band from Belarus, black metal? It's rare to find something interesting there. So I assume it's crap. On the other hand, knowing Tomasz, he's never made a big fool of himself, so I'll listen to it. Well, that's more or less what my spontaneous thoughts sounded like after I pulled the aforementioned material out of my mailbox. And when I finally turned it on, I immediately regretted that I had doubted the guy. The band's debut fifteen minutes on the subject is indeed black metal. And you could say "the end, period". Because in reality, you won't find anything groundbreaking or frame-breaking in this music. The thing is that these two numbers are such a small hit. First of all, I am struck by the way our eastern neighbors mix the best influences of the second wave in their pot, and with what ease they come up with something that every maniac of devilish metal will swallow. In this music you will find basically everything. There is an incredible amount of energy, there is picking in every possible way, there is Nordic melody, there is anger and that primal note of rebellion. Viedźmin Pakuty do not spare themselves in any aspect. They rush forward strongly, serving up strong harmonies at high speed, with only a few slowdowns, no less cold than the aforementioned gallops, the rhythm section constantly rushes the guys, and the master taking care of the microphone tears his throat to the blood, by no means sticking to the only, established tone. And of course, the singing here is not in English, which also gives the whole thing a slightly different atmosphere. I could mention here the names that have certainly inspired Belarusians to pick up their instruments, and there would certainly be a few bands from Scandinavia and Switzerland among them (if only because of the "Ugh!" that sneaks in there somewhere), but I won't do that, because each of you will already have your own label. I'll just say, in summary, that this EP shouldn't be skipped, because it's just fucking good. Good enough to make me look out the window to see if the full moon is coming. Hopefully soon.
