Raw, primitive, occult black metal. That pretty much says it all about Vociferian’s “Universal Hate Decades Ultimatum.”
Vociferian’s music follows the standard old-school black metal aesthetic with low production values and emphasis on speed where sloppiness is not only unpunished but seemingly encouraged. The guitars and bass are pretty tight – this makes the drums seem sloppy by comparison.
“Universal Hate Decades Ultimatum” is a mini-EP featuring five standard black metal tracks and one ‘weird’ track. Within the confines of the first four tracks (i.e. what you really want to hear) “Universal Hate Decades Ultimatum” works pretty well as any current old-school, occult-leaning black metal album should. The final ‘weird’ track is an exceedingly annoying tech-ed out, random white noise, industrialized exercise that has little value musically or in the realm of what I would presume the primary mission of Vociferian’s existence to be.
“Universal Hate Decades Ultimatum” was produced by Lord Genocide. For a one-man project the disc is pretty good from a production standpoint despite the adherence to old-school black metal standards.
Vociferian is Lord Genocide on all vocals, guitars, bass, and drums.
